Sinopsis

Los procesos económicos se fundamentan principalmente y en mayor proporción en la información y el conocimiento, hoy, las organizaciones de tipo empresarial que participan en la dinámica económica de todos los países, están obligadas a crear valor para sus accionistas, clientes y grupos de interés, lo cual no depende solamente de las capacidades productivas o financieras, el conocimiento, ya que la información se constituye como uno de los orígenes esenciales para lograr mayor productividad, innovación y competitividad. En un entorno cada vez más dinámico, con una extensión apresurada de la competencia, los recursos económicos cardinales para la sociedad y las organizaciones, ya no son ni el capital ni el trabajo, son la información y el conocimiento. Hayek (1998), afirma que, cualquier enfoque que busque explicación acerca del progreso económico, política económica o diseño de sistemas económicos, debe tener en cuenta las formas en que el conocimiento, que se encuentra disperso entre los seres humanos, es transmitido y utilizado. Castells (2001), indica que el poder, reside en la mente de las personas, allí se centra el poder, en las imágenes y modelos, alrededor de los cuales las sociedades organizan sus instituciones y las personas edifican y dan significado a sus vidas. Las formas en que se disemina e intercambia el conocimiento determinan la forma en la que se desarrollan las economías y las sociedades.

Las empresas proveedoras de servicios intensivos en conocimiento, son consideradas un componente esencial en los sistemas o ecosistemas de innovación, debido a que, si trabajan activamente en el ecosistema, son fuente de transferencia de información, conocimiento y tecnología, constituyéndose en un factor que jalona la innovación empresarial. Las empresas de servicios de conocimiento participan en el desarrollo de actividades estratégicas de sus clientes, aportan conocimiento que sus clientes no poseen y que necesitan para lograr sus metas, así que las empresas proveedoras de servicios basados en conocimiento, contribuyen de manera directa e indirecta, con el crecimiento y desarrollo de las empresas y la economía.
